Synopsis

When given two options in their 20s: submitting to an arranged marriage or taking a vow of celibacy for life, some Chinese women preferred the latter. Instead of serving their husband and children at home, they earned their living in spinning factories and moved into a nursing home after retirement. Now in the 90s, they tell their stories with pride and loneliness, but no regret: 'It was the fashion.' (Film directed by Lucia Luo)
